Animedix becomes a community partner in the USDA Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion Nutrition Communicators Network

Animedix has joined a growing list of organizations designated as community partners of the FDA Center for Nutrition that will work with the USDA to reach consumers to help them make meaningful, sustainable, healthy dietary changes, based on the new 2010 Dietary Guidelines. In the Summer of 2011, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Pyramid was replaced by a new branding campaign called "MyPlate" (www.choosemyplate.gov), spearheaded by First Lady Michelle Obama. Obama says, "We are going to continue to have conversations about balanced meals to make this seem fun and simple and not complicated and overburdened."

At a time when 2/3 of U.S. adults and 1/3 of U.S. children are considered overweight, obesity has become epidemic and threatens to further cripple our health and productivity through increased rates of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and hypertension.  This issue will require a paradigm shift across the nation can only be facilitated by broad awareness campaigns that foster lasting behavioral change.
